The Beast Rises at the UN (Or Does It?)

You cannot make this stuff up. Or maybe you can. Christians who have read Revelation immediately recognize this thing which purportedly was erected in front of the United Nations recently - unveiled as some religious websites put it. I'll do more research to verify, but so far it looks real. But then Satan's deceptions will always "look" real, so I remain skeptical.

Before I buy this story, however, someone needs to go over to the UN and snap a photo of this thing with their cellphone. Preferably several someones. The story feels off somehow. Either that or the "Beast" has offices at the UN and wanted a statue unveiled in tribute to his power and glory.

Remember folks, the devil is a liar and loves nothing better than to get everyone looking the wrong way while he does his real evil somewhere else. He thinks we're all stupid and delights in making us look foolish. Sadly, many of us are trusting and, frankly, gullible and foolish. So if anyone is on the scene in New York and can verify this for us, I'll shelve it on my "smells funny" shelf next to the phony Patriot march in Washington this weekend.

The reason I know that the White Supremacist/Nationalist/Nazi march was phony was because the cops weren't arresting people or roughing them up had they been Trump supporters. Also, some of the "protestors" were downright prancing. Redneck white supremacists don't prance!

Still checking this out, but no mainstream sources yet are reporting it. The picture comes from a UN photo collection. Looks kind of cartoonish, but then a lot of Mexican art has that bright color pallet that gives that effect. If anyone in New York could get a photo other than the one above that's being passed around, we'd appreciate it.

It would be nice to have some "I got off the bus in front of the UN and holy crap, there it was right in front of me!" sorts of pictures.

For some reason there is a species of Christian who believes they are called to be God's public relations managers and are fully justified in making things up to make God look good. I mean this thing is really over-the-top, in-your-face, end-times "proof" stuff of the sort that runs around the net ever once in a while. I'm waiting for the smartphone photos from multiple sources before I fully believe this.

Jesus said, "Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves."  Times like these call for us to sharpen our snakey senses and do some actual investigative reporting. If this is a fake, it shames conservative Christians. That's the very same thing the phony patriot protest a few days ago attempted to do. Only it's done by people who aren't leftists and supposed to be on our side.

God protect us from our enemies and too often, sadly, from our friends.

Just one man's opinion.

Here's where this story came from.

UPDATE: It appears that this thing is real. Seems the Dark Lord is growing more bold as Mordor rises....

The Democrat Double Standard on "Settling Our Differences".

If as one Dem put it, "We settle our differences at the ballot box. We don't have coups and we don't have riots,"

Oh really? Then what was the 4 years of rioting, looting, and arson by ANTIFA and BLM all about? Democrats kept saying that was a legit way to solve their differences with the president.

So does that mean if we want to settle our differences with President Puddinhead, we should do 5 or 6 billion dollars worth of damage to American cities? Dems would probably applaud that as it would give them an excuse to roll in the troops and toss the Constitution. Look at how they over-reacted to the January 6 protest, calling it insurrection and the worst thing since the Civil War. You'd be forgiven for thinking they were kidding, but you'd be wrong. Like spoiled kids the howling and foot-stomping has been a sight to behold.

The only thing about a conservative set of riots is, (1) it would be better organized and (2) conservatives would likely do damage to Democrat cities rather than to their own.
When a child throws a tantrum, he tends to destroy his own things. When someone seeks redress of grievances against an oppressor, he tends to go after his oppressor and his things. As I remember, one of the things ancient Israel's laws prohibited was doing damage to yourself as part of worshiping the various pagan gods. It strikes me as significant that when a Democrat is angry he seems to destroy his own communities and his own fellows.

That's kind of a familiar political move in history - in fact quite an ancient one. Every time the devil makes a move to make himself the Prince of this World, he starts with rioting, violence and bloodshed, then proceeds to gather fighters to whip the populace into shape, and appoints one of his more cruel minions as king, emperor, pharaoh, Czar, Tsar, Caesar, President or potentate who proceeds to drive the nation to ruin.

It happens every time. We saw it in the kingdoms and empires of Europe where rule by privileged elites, nobles, kings and princes enslaved the proletariat (Karl Marx's word for peasants, peons or the masses). The rise of the United States opened a window that for a time allowed brought about the end of slavery (at least in the West). The old devil has tried mightily over the past 200 years to restore the rule of tyrants and succeeded at the cost of hundreds of millions of people slaughtered in the name of some promised utopia for all. All anyone ever got was shared misery and death.

The devil's argument was always that free will was too dangerous a thing and that people should be ruled by a superior creature (namely himself). The rise of Nazism, Communism and other collectivist totalitarian socialist states is nothing more than Satan's effort to make himself the ruler of all and to take the place of God.

The good news?  It ain't gonna succeed. When you see these things, when knowledge shall be increased and men shall run to and fro, and when it becomes evident that our adversary is growing ever more frantic in his efforts to by force mold this world into his own image, then know that time is very short and we can look to the coming of Christ. Never forget. It will be a rescue mission, not a conquest. It will leave the world in ruin for a thousand years. And I, for one, believe that those who remain will destroy themselves. They have a pattern and for the first time in human history, they have the weapons with which to turn the Earth into a blackened husk.

Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Shadow Banned

"Shadow Banned"

Tune: “Yesterday”
Parody by Tom King

Twenty ten, I could post all of my stuff back then,
To criticize Obama weren’t a sin
But Dems didn’t know how to shadow ban

Years ago, you could see all of my Twitter posts.
Now it looks as though my posts are toast.
Oh, I believe I’m shadow banned.

O’ I got 3 strikes, traffic to my blogs was killed, well yikes.
Less than half my Facebook memes get likes.
My content's banned it’s too far right.

My readers they had to go?
They say I violate
Community standards.
Now I’m banned till a future date.

Yesterday, social media wasn’t totally gay.
Now my stuff is mostly hid away.
O’ I’m debunked, I’m here to say.

Why I have been banned
I don't know, they say it was me.
I don’t remember limiting.
Who my posts could see.

Shadow banned, my peeps can’t see my recipes.
I need a place to post what I please.
Oh, I’m, shadow banned I do believe.

I’m shadow banned I do believe.

Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm.

Is Free Market Capitalism Inherently Greedy and Corrupt.

I do enjoy when the arrogant left opens it's collective mouth to prove it doesn't quite know what it's talking about. I love the spelling errors in this tongue lashing I got when I dared suggest that Camille Paglia was right when she claimed capitalism ended the stranglehold of the aristocracy and "raised the standard of living for the whole world." She even claimed that "capitalism enabled the emancipation of women," to which this guy below responded, "Nonsense!" Here's my friend's agitated comment regarding Ms. Paglia's heresy.

I have found that most right wing people have a mythical believe in Capitalism. When left it it's own and not closely regulated, it screws everyone and crashes the economy. Pure Capitalism has never existed and the closer we get, the more the greed based economy crashes. Socialism in it's pure form as well, has never existed and will fail. Communisum has never existed and is impossible due to human nature. Anyone who mentions Communisum and the US, is a moron and needs to shut up. Best to keep you mouth shut and have people think your stupid vs open your mouth and prove it. We have a system that has socialist tendencies long before Capitalism. Most don't know the Boston Tea Party was a rebellion against the only corporation allowed to work in the US and fact that they were exempt to the Tea Tax. In the early US Corperations were not legal.Ours is a mix of Capitslistic and Socialistic programs, rules and regulations. All to keep the greedy from compleatly cashing out the majority. Balance.

(Name withheld due to his atrocious spelling. rudeness and rampant logical fallacies)

Well, of course capitalist systems have to be regulated. The idea that those of those on the right want totally unregulated business is a straw man logical fallacy. Nobody I know is claiming unregulated, unfettered capitalism is the best way to go. Most of us believe in original sin. Mentioning communism makes one a moron???? Really. What an arrogant load of crap! Communism is, for most committed socialist, the ultimate socialist Utopia. It was what Marx believe was the ultimate goal of socialism. It was the "Communist" Manifesto, not the Socialist/Capitalist Manifesto, nor even the Socialist Manifesto. If by socialist, you mean people helped the needy and helped each other in the event of disasters, that's not the sole province of socialism. Socialism doesn't mean "charitable". A capitalist nation can choose to set aside some assets to provide help or even things like healthcare, retirement benefits and such if it so chooses and many do. Sweden and Denmark, whose economies are based on capitalist principles do offer certain services and benefits that their people choose to offer.

I'm not sure where this guy got his definition of socialism, but Marx's brand of socialism certainly has nothing to do with charity. Nor does a capitalist economy preclude setting money aside to provide charity to our fellow humans in need if socialism did. In fact, capitalist nations and free market economies lavish more largess on the poor of the world than socialist states ever do. As a career nonprofit fundraiser, I was interested to learn that US churches and private foundations give more money and give it more effectively to impoverished 3rd World Nations than the US Government. A whole lot more of private nongovernmental charity goes for what it was intended to go for instead of like much US government's billions in "Aid" does. Warlords don't get much in the way of private aid. Too hard to embezzle, unlike government pallets of cash the way politicians hand it out.

As to the Boston Tea Party, the protest was against a government sponsored tax that protected a company that was in cahoots with the government.
That's exactly the sort of corporatism that progressives claim to be against, but always one of the first things corporations and governments organize when they choose the socialist brand of statism over the sort of government of the people our founders established. Sounds like a great idea, you just can't get people to go along with it unless you point a gun at 'em.

Yes, we regulate corporate greed and lawlessness. If you remember Republican presidents like Grant and Teddy Roosevelt were the first to crack down on corporate pirates. Grant busted members of his own administration when he caught them with their fingers in the till. Capitalist, yes. The trouble with socialists is that they if they do seek to regulate corruption of the free market by massive corporations, they always fold the corruption into the state. With socialists it's government of the state, by the state and for the state. Barack Obama complained that the US Constitution didn't specify the rights of the government, only the rights of the people. That is as it should be. Our system of government was designed so that government is only allowed what power the people grant it.

That is by and large a free market capitalist system. The government's role should be to slap down companies and individuals that use their wealth to protect themselves from competition and protect their markets from competing new small businesses. Too often the advocates of socialism-lite adopt a less obvious nationalization of business and industry under an all powerful state and simply get in bed with the corporations.

After all, when you believe your job is to centrally plan everything, tell people where to live, where to work, what kind of jobs they must do, where they can and cannot travel and all the rest of the controls placed upon us by the benevolent state, it's to your advantage to keep down the number of companies you have to control.  It's a whole lot easier to "manage" a handful of powerful corporations than it is to control hundreds and thousands of small, upstart, fast-moving, flexible and innovative entrepreneurial companies that have little interest in bowing to the all-powerful state. Deals to protect corporations, allows career politicians to become multi-millionaires on a government salary and bureaucrats to have more free time for those 5 martini lunches and vacations in Aruba than they would have if they had to control the Wild Wild West that is a free market economy.

Since the Garden of Eden, it's been all about power. Want to know who's most concerned about their power? Check to see who you aren't allowed to criticize. Check to see which side's rioters are in jail six months later and which were out in a couple of hours despite their being more violent and destructive.

It's not capitalism that "screws everyone and crashes the economy." It's people who interfere with the self regulation of free market;. politicians and political parties who sell themselves to the moneyed upper classes and corporate fat cats and sell out the middle class and working upper class in favor of those who've already made their pile and are willing to bribe, steal and rig the system for their own benefit.

"Too big to fail" was a progressive idea. No free market capitalist believes in that.

It's not "when left to it's own devices" that capitalism fails. It's when propped up by cronies in government that those nasty corporations screw people and wreck the economies. Crony capitalists and their well fed allies in government come to think they are too big to fail and use taxpayer money to save big corporations from failure as they did in 2008 and 2009. Goldman Sachs should have gone down with Lehman Brothers, AIG and all the rest. Instead of letting the markets regulate the greed and corruption our politicians instead protected it. I guarantee if any one of those massive corporations had collapsed of it's own internal rot, there would have been a hundred new companies that would have rushed in to serve those markets.

Free markets, if protected from the bloated bullies of business, will clear out the bad business.
Customers simply stop buying their stuff. That's why Chrysler went bust. We should have let them close and kept the market open for new car-makers to step in. Companies that have rested on their inflated laurels pay the price for failing to innovate and to serve their customers. For every failing Sears, Montgomery Wards and JC Penney's, you get an Amazon, Walmart  and a myriad of smaller companies that rise up to serve the customers in that market.

And it's not just the corporations that are greedy.
Unions, representing workers have gotten greedy as well and have driven their companies under one after another. If, a while back, you suddenly discovered you couldn't find Twinkies and Ho-Ho's in the store anymore, you can thank their unions that drove the Hostess company down by making the business unprofitable. Much of the failure of the bakery was due to the badly inflated cost of their workforce. Nice work if you could get it, but eventually, the whole rotten edifice collapsed of its own weight and with it those nice retirement plans the union gouged the company for. Ironically, someone did buy the brand and the recipes for Ding-Dongs and such. What they didn't buy were the workers. Meanwhile, conservative bakery, Little Debbie, keeps plugging along by balancing costs and paying their workers a fair but not exhorbitant wage.

My friend was right in that there has to be some regulation to keep the markets free and fair. It's just not the sort that our friends on the left favor. Progressives took the wrong lesson from psychologists like BF Skinner and Abraham Maslow. They've come to believe and more importantly put into practice, a system that responds to noisy, demanding, misbehaving people by rewarding them in an effort to quiet them. All the while they neglect those that are quietly going about their work and not setting fire to cities and demanding things they can damned well get for themselves.

All that does is teach the proletariat to be greedy and eventually, the delicate balance between patronizing the proletariat and protecting the "too big to fail" upper class, grows to be too much and it all topples over and goes down like the Tower of Babel. And every day it's looking more and more like the progressive tower to the socialist Utopia may soon topple of its own weight and as Jesus described it, "And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."

As it's been for more than a year now with CoVid-19, it's better that we avoid the disease that is socialism/statism altogether than to do as John the Revelator put it, and "...drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." With government and corporations, there really is no "safe sex." History tells us that.

A Democrat's in the White House Once Again

I offered this updated Democrat praise music to my Democrat friends after the 2009 election but never got any takers. I heard the tune on a Smithsonian folk song CD.  It was originally written after Franklin D. Roosevelt's victory - kind of a nanny nanny boo-boo song that was popular with the unions, the communists and Democrats back in the day.

It was such a lovely bluegrass number, I decided to update it a bit.  I thought my Democrat buddies back in 09 needed a good nanny nanny boo-boo song to go with the little nanny nanny boo boo dance they were all doing.  I figure they needed a new one for Obama, what with all the Hope and Change we're were going to have. Well, Joe Biden is now the best Democrat since sliced bread, so here's a version especially for him.

To wit, this tuneful little number.  If you want to hear a clip of the tune, check out this version on Amazon.com to see how it goes. Just click on the play button and you'll hear the tune.

We’ve Got a Democrat in the White House Once Again

(Tune: We've Got Franklin D. Roosevelt Back Again - 1936, Bill Cox)

C                                               F
Just hand me my old banjo For soon I’m goin’ to go
C                                                  G7
Back to dear old Washington far away.
C                                              F
Since Joe Biden's been elected, We'll not be neglected.
                   G7                                               C
We've got Democrats in the White House once again.
C                            F
Once again, once again,
                 C                                       G7
Also Democrats in Congress once again.
C                                                   F
Since China Joe's elected, The Economy’s been corrected.
                 G7                                      C
We've got double digit inflation once again.

We’ll take ourselves a little toke
We’ll eat our veggies till we choke.
The diet cops will watch us night and day.
You can tell a dirty joke.
Fornicate, but you can’t smoke.
Cause Biden's in the White House once again.
Once again, once again,
And there's Democrats in the Congress once again.
Rush Limbaugh has been buried.
Gay folks are gettin' married.
We've got Taliban runnin' old Afghanistan.

Trillions spent for useless things.
China's pullin' Biden's strings
Al Qaeda's coming back in a big old way.
Afghanistan has fallen.
The slaughter is appallin'
As Biden's faculties begin to fade.
Begin to fade. Begin to fade.
And he's sending Cubans back the way they came.
Meanwhile the border's open
Millions cross it' a hopin'
They won't wind up some corporation's slave.

No more bills or rent to pay.
The donkey stole election day.
We get bonuses for not going out to work.
They're checkin' if we're vaccinated.
Dr. Fauci's celebrated.
Old people dyin' puts a smirk upon their face.
Upon their face, on their face,
We've got Biden in the White House for a space.
Since Kamala's there as backup,
Nancy waits for Joe to crack up.
So she can put a commie in his place.

The party's head is gettin' slow
And number two keeps her head low
Kamala's slept her way right to the top.
She lost her try at president
But as VP she's quite content
To wait for China Joe, to finally drop.
Finally drops. Finally drops
She's waitin' for when old Joe finally drops.
Then if you're not a socialist
She'll send along the IRS
And if you're robbed, she's defunded all the cops.

We used to think Obama vile,
At least he wasn't quite senile.
In a hundred days Joe's almost brought us down.
Not since Jimmy Carter,
Have we had such a non-starter
Well that happens when your president's a clown.
Is a clown. Is a clown
He's bringing America right down.
We're not yet LGBT
Q R S or T or U V,
But it looks like that is how it's going down.

His handlers keep Joe hidden
Make him do as he is bidden,
If they don't let Joe go wandering around.
Though his bulb gets ever more dim.
The press will cover for him.
His every word we're told will be profound.
Be profound, be profound
Socialism will soon be comin' down.
The masses must be elated.
Or if not, re-educated.
There'll be gulags enough to go around.

His handlers tell us he's okay
We shouldn't doubt election day
Where's Joe ? He's lost out in the Rosey Garden.
While no one else is lookin',
Hunter's books they will be cookin'.
But don't worry the boy will soon be pardoned.
Soon be pardoned, soon be pardoned.
As Joe's arteries grow steadily more hardened,
He wonders if his cut was fair,
And sniffs some little girl's hair
And a laptop lost brings Hunter porno stardom

Joe killed the US oil biz.
The consequences will be his.
Don't mistake his seeming brain confusion.
He's right now in discussions
To get oil from the Russians.
Will anybody ask, "Is that collusion?"
Collusion? Maddow's statin'
It's all just part of smart negotiatin'!
MSNBC just praises him.
And NBC and CNN
And for us we know re-education's waitin'.

Especially, if you stop Joe Biden veneratin'.

Time to Stop Being Stupid About Immigration

It is at the door that we invite our friends to come in and our enemies to stay out.

We're watching a tragedy taking place in Afghanistan, a place where we have shed American blood for 20 years. People I love have died over there in what this administration threatens to make meaningless the cause they gave their lives for. Just a bad, the nation and the people we tried to help are being abandoned by this Administration and left to be tortured and murdered by the Taliban. Sadly we here mostly two responses among the chattering classes. (1) Profound silence and more than a little patting themselves on the back. What they're so proud of, I can't figure out. (2) Let 'em die, we should never have been there in the first place, an attitude I find utterly incomprehensible.

This confirms my belief that the devil has agents on both sides of the political debate and has had for some time. That a conservative Christian could even think that, because Biden is a senile old communist, we should just say tough luck to the translators, suppliers, teachers, families, kids and everyone who relied on us during the conflict and let the Taliban conduct a massive general slaughter just like the Communists in Vietnam did. The media and the left didn't say much about the Vietnamese Communists murdering 2 million people that cooperated with the US during the Vietnam war. And Republicans sat back and barely made a peep themselves, other than to take in a ton of refugees that managed to escape by boat or by bribing corrupt American officials.

American soldiers answer the call to fight evil - again!
Disappointingly, many of my more hard core conservative friends say, well, it's not our worry. We shouldn't have been there in the first place. Or because government officials "did it wrong", we should just get out because it wasn't done right. As if that will somehow fix things? Do you people have some kind of time machine where you can go back and correct the mistakes our Democrat friends made and somehow that will bring back the millions of dead. Germans were slaughtering Jews in 1941. Japanese were slaughtering Chinese in 1941. Were we supposed to stand by and let evil march roughshod over the world. We did the right thing then. We should do it now. If we want to abandon Afghanistan, we should at least offer a way out for those there who believed in us.

I'm kind of a fix what you can kind of guy. Sure Biden made mistakes in how he managed the pullout, especially in abandoning the country to the Taliban in the middle of their fighting season and by telling them when, where, and how we would pull out. Did our new progressive overlords forget the people who trusted us in Afghanistan - some kind of a big oops? No. I just think they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. Progressives have this stunning ability to ignore their own inhumanity to people who trusted us. They do not learn from history. Cause and effect mystifies them. If the ideology doesn't work, it's just because someone else did it wrong. Then they go back to focus instead on navel gazing and power accumulation. It's an incredibly myopic way to look at the world. My thought is to shame them. Throw their own words back in their face. Make them face their duplicitous double standard.

Sadly, some on the supposedly conservative "Christian" side have the same ability to ignore the consequences of what we propose to do and focus instead on counting coup against the evil liberals.

It's like the border crisis. The left wants to open the borders, let the tired, the poor and huddled masses (along with the drug mules, terrorists and sex traffickers) come across unimpeded in hopes of manipulating them to one day vote Democrat. That's why they object to voter ID and election fraud prevention laws. On the other side, we get so focused on keeping out the potential Democrat voters and job-stealers (along with the drug mules, terrorists and sex traffickers) that we want to throw them all back into the horrific places they come from.

Irish and Chinese railroad workers were mistreated by myopic Americans
who were fearful that immigrants would take jobs that they really didn't want.
That said, they got the job done anyway, despite the abuse.

We, conservatives, too often forget what immigration waves have done for this country in the past. Every single American's ancestors came here from somewhere else. Immigration, for however hard you argue for your opinion, is not a black or white issue. Let 'em all in or throw them all out? Incredibly, there's not much in the way of solutions offered that are not all one or the other. Me, I think we should both slam the borders shut AND open the border's doors to lots of legal immigration.

What I think we should do is set up English classes and American citizenship classes in embassies all over Central and South America to prepare people to come to America. We lock the border down tight to keep out the ne'er do wells. Then, we create a generous guest worker program and welcome in workers willing to learn English and about American history, culture and law. We sign them up to pay taxes, to complete the citizenship process and help them learn things like money management (banks are thrilled to teach classes in that kind of thing). We protect these refugee workers through the department of Labor and OSHA so there is no profit for corporations, agri-business, crooked politicians and others to abuse these laborers by sticking them in colonias without water, electricity and sewer services and paying them a pittance in cash and food stamps to keep them in virtual slavery.

Make refugees legal and we'll get millions of hard-working people who hate communism and corrupt government; family folk who value life, love free markets and will work very hard to establish businesses. Most will more nearly embrace Republican values than otherwise. And a rising tide, after all, does indeed lift all boats. They will build homes and buy homes. They will raise and process food and buy food. They will make things and buy things we make. They will provide services and buy services. The economy and the job market is not a zero sum game, though some of my conservative friends seem to forget that.

The reason the left opposes this type of program and votes down guest worker programs every time they come up, is that such people with this value set don't generally vote Democrat. Just check out the Cuban American community in Florida and see how they vote - solidly for Trump last time despite the election fraud. Biden is catching and sending back Cubans escaping from Cuba right now. They aren't reliably going to vote Democrat. He'd rather have the poor and ignorant and unprotected who are forced to work terrible jobs for slave wages who can be intimidated by ICE if they get rambunctious or don't vote the right way. And besides, by sending back Cuban refugees he can punish the Cuban American immigrants already here for voting for Trump.

On the far right we also have our share of idiots who want to build a wall completely around the US without any doors in it at all and try to preserve everything like it is. That's stupid. An economy that doesn't grow, a nation that fails to produce new workers soon begins to fail. European population numbers are shrinking and Euro-business is pulling workers from the Middle East to fill in the dwindling pool of workers. It's a perfect example of what happens when you let your population dwindle without considering who you want to invite to come to fill in the worker shortage. Multi-ethnic cultures can work very well if the cultures share similar values.

I used to go to the North Texas Irish Festival
every year. I once performed there during my
abortive career as a folk singer.

I grew up in Texas where our Hispanic community is an economic powerhouse - at least those who came here legally or grew up in Texas. Our food is Tex-Mex. Many of us speak Tex-Mex or are bilingual. We share a common history. Did you know there were Latinos who fought and died at the Alamo and marched with Sam Houston. I know some of their descendants. It was a mixed race mulatto girl Texican who distracted Santa Anna while Houston was busy attacking his Army. They wrote a song about her - The Yellow Rose of Texas. Lots of Texas counties are named for Hispanic heroes of the Texas revolt. In Texas we have every sort of ethnic festival you can imagine. We have Hispanic celebrations like Cinco de Mayo. Juneteenth started in Texas. We have Polish, Czech, German, Celtic, African, Vietnamese, Irish, Native American and festivals celebrating every sort of fruit and vegetable you can imagine. We have rodeos, tractor pulls and rattlesnake roundups. We can live together peaceably if the ideologues will just let us.

By confusing border control with border closing, we're all wasting an opportunity to import hundreds of thousands of legal immigrant free-market capitalist, hard-working, pro-life, pro-family Christians.
But don't get me wrong, though.Let's neither open the floodgates, nor dam the river up completely. Let's instead respond intelligently to the pressure from Latin America that is driving out their best people. We always get the good ones in these pressured migrations if we're careful. We also get some of the bad ones if we don't watch what we're doing, but with today's criminal databases, it's a lot more likely we'll catch the rotten apples. Asians and Irish immigrants built the railways. Greeks and Italians built wonderful communities and businesses. We just should have done a better job of screening out the mafiosos, though. Scandinavians and Poles built vast farms and ranches, meat-packing and food processing industries. The Scots brought a wave of engineers, metal-working industries, financial businesses and banking. The French sent waves of Huguenot shop-keepers and merchants. British refugees brought us sailors, and traders, farmers and lawyers. German refugees brought craftsmen and manufacturing skills. The west coast has vibrant Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino, Samoan, Ukrainian, and Russian communities.

The Cinco de Mayo parade in Alpine, Texas. Now Cinco de Mayo festivals
serve up some amazing food. Don't wanna miss 'em if there's one you can get to.

A lady from Ukraine I met up here in Washington complained to me that she escaped the Soviet Union to get away from communism. She loves this country and its amazing freedoms. "Why are you fools trying so hard to become communist?" she asked, clearly frustrated with the progressive obtuseness of our Washington state government. But my friend is an example of the American phenomenon of attracting people who are as Everett Dirksen once said, "Yearning to be free." And they're hard-working to boot. We need such people. Heaven knows, we American parents have raised too many of the other sort to maintain a free and healthy economy.

Why are we not taking advantage of the opportunity to bleed off the best of Latin America and make Americans of them? I know what they'll do. They'll give the economy a kick in the pants. Many will build and operate their own America-based businesses with factories and agri-business down in Central and South America and help bring prosperity back to those blighted nations from which they came (and everyone can make a little money in trade at the same time). That's the beauty of capitalism. You let it run and everyone benefits, especially if you enforce your trade laws and don't elect politicians who will take bribes and protect just the big corporations the way a certain party has always done while accusing Republicans of what they themselves do. If we could hold power for long enough to bring in people who share conservative Christian values and teach them how much we are like each other, red states would become more powerful and Democrats would be extinct in no time.

The trouble is, Satan works both sides of the aisle and makes left wing and right wing extremists blind, stubborn and stupid. Jesus is going to have to come soon and snatch up the good folks from all over the world, scrub this planet clean and then set us all back down on the Earth made new and stand back and let humans do what humans were created to do - tend the garden, build, plant and tend to our homes and help each our neighbors. What a wonderful world that will be!

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to do something right for a change while we're here though.
