Trump's People's Parade - Wow!

I thought I'd watch a little of the Washington DC Fourth of July Parade. It was not at all what I expected.  Having for years watched the Macy's Parade and the Rose Parade, I was unprepared for the best parade I've ever seen.

It had nothing to do with the expense of the floats. There were no Vander orchids or butter yellow daisies in a bed of roses. I haven't seen a professional level marching band. I don't think I've seen a singel college band. Everything so far has been high school marching bands. The drill teams have largely been healthy black girls doing shimmy shake dance routines, mixed drill teams swinging everything from flags to some kind of white pole wrapped in lace, or sticks with crepe paper streamers.

I've been watching it for over an hour as cars, semi-trucks, crepe-decorated trailer floats, odd groups of people in matching tee-shirts. My favorite bit was when the second group in the parade was the Daughters of the American Revolution carrying big flags and the first flag they carried was the Betsy Ross Flag. (Take that Colon Krapsickle!).

The parade participants were a cross section of every American parade in every heartland city of the United States.  There were no tanks, missiles, or weapons of war. There were proud groups of Taiwanese Americans, Chinese Americans, and Vietnamese Americans (on a big float that said "Thank you America").  There were Sikh Americans, Buddhist Americans, Krishna Americans and Christian Americans. There were members of every ethnic group you can imagine. The high school bands were a rainbow of races - no racism in evidence.

It was fascinating the level of ordinariness to be seen in the parade. I couldn't stop watching. This was Washington, DC, but the parade was straight out of Houma, Louisiana. I kept waiting for the horses and sure enough, there they were bringing up the rear of the parade. The only thing they didn't have in the parade were kids on bicycles with crepe paper streamers laced between the spokes of their wheels. I think the parade was anyone who showed up with balloons, band instruments or a float.

I missed the kids on bikes, but they had everything else you'd see in a Fourth of July parade in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas or Sandusky, Ohio. There were Model T's and Mustangs, open top Camaros and Cadillacs with Corn Queens and Queens of Black-Eyed Pea festivals and county fairs sitting in the backs waving. There were restored 50s era pickups and huge balloons of unlicensed cartoon characters.  There was slightly out-of-tune high school marching bands playing John Phillip Sousa marches, jazz tunes or 60s oldies.

I smiled stupidly all the way through the thing, wondering what the reaction of the left would be to a genuine people's parade right in the middle of snooty old Washington with Trump supporters crammed cheek by jowl alongside the parade route. Participants were a representative sample of De

You could hear 'em hyperventilating down at the DNC. It was gloriously simple, amateurish and the best parade I've seen in my life, not the least because it was utterly in-your-face to the left. It was an actual people's parade, only the people's bussed themselves into Washington, brought their own flags and stuff and pretty much all of them had voted for Trump in the last election or planned to vote for him in the next one.

And the one song the immigrant groups played from their floats going by???

"I'm Proud to Be an American...........God Bless the USA"

How cool is that?

Leftist Bureaucrat's Announcement Endangers Children

This woman is going to get some kids killed.
The left is still plying it's propaganda game despite the failure of socialism virtually every time it's been tried and even where it hasn't failed it's only a little more time till they join Venezuela.  Progressives are still playing manipulation games, even in my beloved state of Texas. Their goal is to "fundamentally change America". The change they have in mind is not necessarily good for America.

So there is this West Texas public defender named Maureen Scott Franco (the scary looking woman to the right). She makes her living defending illegal aliens from the INS. To further confuse the already tense situation along the border, she just made a declaration to the media that she had no right to make nor power to enforce. But she has got her announcement out into the news media and her words will soon get out to Mexico and Central Amerca. The humanitarian crisis over illegal immigrant children will get worse. Here is what she had to say.
  • "Going forward, they will no longer bring criminal charges against a parent or parents entering the United States if they have their child with them," wrote Maureen Scott Franco, the federal public defender for the Western District of Texas, in an email shown to the Associated Press.

Democrats and leftists bureaucrats are still trying to make Trump responsible for a mess made by his predecessors. Years of encouraging illegal immigration has led to the kinds of problems faced by the INS when they began enforcing the law once again. When INS stopped doing Obama-style catch and release, suddenly detention facilities were overloaded and conditions for children became dangerous. When INS followed the procedures laid down under the previous administration, children had to be removed from the adult population because we didn't have enough facilities to handle the flood of illegal aliens.

Until the message finally gets through to our neighbors to the south, that the US has closed its borders, the rush to cross the border before the wall goes up is going to continue. Only now everyone will be sure to grab a child to bring with them in case they get caught because some public defender says that INS won't prosecute if they have a child with them.

God help the children and save them from the "kindness" of Democrats.

Fire At Will, Donald!

DUCKS IN A ROW: WORKING FOR THE DONALD

The Trump administration has come to resemble a shooting gallery a year into his first term.
Really is anybody surprised? The man's catch phrase on his TV show was "You're fired!" His blind supporters make excuses for the chaos. They excuse his embarrassing simple-minded tweets, and if you criticize him they jump all over you. I know the swamp draining process is going to be chaotic. Pundits like Bill Whittle point out that the most positive thing about Trump is his bull in a china shop approach to the DC establishment. Tear it all down, they say. We can always rebuild from the rubble.

Protecting the government from its own people may just be the smartest thing they could do.
Firing FBI and justice department officials caught protecting presidential candidates from the consequences of their own corruption is probably necessary. Look at how corrupt the FBI became after 8 years under a Democrat president. I just hope President Trump becomes enough of a conservative to clean that place out. We don't need another J. Edgar Hoover. We don't need law enforcement agencies that support the political agenda of the dominant political party or the president.

We don't need a CIA that massages the data it delivers to the president - telling him what they think he ought to know and not what is really going on. That's what happened to President Bush his first year in office. Under Clinton CIA learned not to tell the president things he didn't want to hear. It explains why Bush didn't know what was happening prior to 9/11. I remember in 2001 having dinner with a CIA staffer. It was entertaining to listen to him screaming about how electing Bush was the worst thing ever. Well the reason CIA was upset about Bush was that they were all Democrats at the top and they were manipulating the daily security briefings to give the president what the CIA thought he ought to hear rather than the whole story. CIA officials, who came up under Bill Clinton, were furious that he was president and not Al Gore. So they focused on manipulating Bush instead of doing their job and as they'd done time and again during the Clinton administration, they missed all the red flags. Next thing we all knew, four airplanes were hijacked and crashed by terrorists with a death toll of 3000 Americans who paid for the political struggle in the American civil service during the early months of the Bush administration.

A lot of folks think that Trump will save us, but I'm not sure he'll do much more than blow things up.
Of course the first step to renovating a rotten building is often to blow it up and start over. We'll see. At least it's not Hillary Clinton at the helm. At least the economy is recovering and promises to keep doing so if Trump doesn't turn into a Democrat and ruin everything.

And yes he does these stupid tweets, but hey, he's talking effectively to the 50% of Americans with less than 100 IQs and he does it frighteningly well. That monumentally irritating habit of adjectivizing his opponents - lyin' Ted, leakin' Comey, Rocket Man, Crooked Hillary, etc.. It would be nice if he'd be a bit more sophisticated, but he can't. I don't think he knows any other way to get his way. Democrats have been aiming at the lower 50% for decades using simplistic phrases like "soak the rich", Democrats are for the poor, Republicans are mean, and that sort of thing.

So the heavy attacks by Democrats on Trump pretty much guarantee that he is going to keep on doing what works with the lower 50 and the rest of us be damned. He's not worried about us. He figures the rest of us can keep up. That's monumentally sad in some way, but probably the only way to poke holes in the swamp so that at least some of the sludge will leak out.

Oh Frabjous Day - Liberals Rejoice, I'm Criticizing Trump

I'm often accused of blindly following President Trump and never criticizing him, even though I didn't vote for Trump or for that matter his Democrat opponent. I rise this day to criticize the president. Apparently, Mr. Trump spoke hasty words yesterday and appeared to advocate taking guns first and following it with due process.

While he was advocating this with regard to dangerous mentally unstable people to be sure, he needed to be careful how he stated that. It certainly gives the wrong impression. I'm sure Trump means well, but once again, he has demonstrated a genius for aggravating his followers.

Ben Shapiro said this about the latest evidence that Trump's a reluctant conservative at best.
"So yes, this is Trump just mouthing off. But it proves once again that on matters of governing philosophy, Trump is no conservative. He’s just a guy who says stuff he thinks will play for the audience in front of him."

Conservatives should set up a howl when Trump starts sounding like a Democrat. It's going to be the only way to keep him on the conservative plantation. Trump is a populist and that's why I had problems with him in the first place. This is me howling!

What Do I Think About "Trump's Broken Promises?"

A buddy posted another "Occupy Democrats" meme about how Donald Trump has broken all these promises he made to his supporters in this first year. Good cow! The Dems are really grasping at straws now. When are they going to learn that the whole "repeat a lie enough times and the public will believe it" tactic doesn't work that well if you can't bury the actual truth.

Did Trump do everything he promised? Nope. There's still work to do , but hey. Give the man a break. It's his first year and given that Democrats and their allies in the media have been obstructing him every step of the way it's bloody miraculous he got as much done as he did.
Meanwhile:
  • Unemployment has reached historic lows especially for blacks, Hispanics and women (AND WITHOUT ARTIFICIALLY REMOVING MILLIONS FROM THE WORKFORCE AS OBAMA DID). Wages are going up. Conservative judges have been nominated. Stock markets at new highs.
  • Taxes have been reduced.
  • I won't have to pay a fine to the IRS if I accidentally make an extra hundred bucks this month and lose my Medicaid insurance.
  • Our allies and enemies have been put on notice that there's a new sheriff in town and we're not going to be bullied anymore.
  • ISIS is nearly defunct and has lost most of its leadership.
  • North Korea has returned to the table for peace talks with South Korea, something they haven't done in years.
  • Illegal immigration has been reduced by 70% even without a border wall and we are working on that.
  • Democrats have been reduced to impotent babbling buffoons,
  • Democrat collaboration with the FBI and foreign powers in an attempt to rig American elections has been exposed.
  • Corruption at the Clinton Foundation has been exposed.
  • Trump is cleaning house at the FBI and justice department.
  • We have a firm conservative majority in the Supreme Court.
  • Oh and my wife got a nice raise on her Social Security this year - something we haven't seen in years.
  • And did I mention that Democrats have lost their minds and even the mainstream media is turning on them? This makes me smile!
I'm okay with all that he has done. Sounds to me like a pretty good first year. I can give him time to work on the rest of it. Heck, I didn't even vote for him and he kept promises I approve of. So, things aren't so bad here in the US of A, except for all that whining noise coming from the left side of the House and Senate chambers. That's getting really irritating.

Hooray for Friedrich Trump!

Friedrich Trump

Historian finds German decree banishing Trump's grandfather!

So screams the headline in the British Tabloid, the Guardian, a news agency of the caliber of a World News Daily, National Enquirer or the New York Times. The Guardian is breathlessly reporting that a "historian" has discovered that Donald Trump's Grandpa Friedrich Trump (or Drumpf if you believe other "historians"), was banished from Germany for failing to do military service. My Democrat friends have been quick to gleefully point out that, "The apple doesn't fall from the tree." Apparently this is some kind of counting coup thing, a quaint tribal custom they have apparently learned from Elizabeth Warren's Native American tribe.

Are you people kidding? First of all, Friedrich had already left Germany for America in 1885 and simply forgot to de-register for the German draft. When he tried to re-enter Germany, they wouldn't let him in because his draft notice had come back unanswered because Trump was off in Alaska running a bordello for gold miners by all accounts. So the story goes flat there and the spinning of the story gets immediately filed in the "fake news" box by anyone who actually reads the whole story all the way to the end and not just the headline.

Besides, back then, all the best people were being kicked out of Europe and Asia - from all of the Old World countries for that matter.
The "civilized" countries were getting rid of their troublemaker and these independent thinkers were drawn to America like moths to the flame.

And another thing. Weren't these same guys trying to Trump-shame the President, also the very little Ikes who have been telling us ad nauseum that we need immigration to improve our workforce? And the answer is, "Of course we do!" And Friedrich Trump came here LEGALLY. That's the point isn't it? Legal immigrants have never in our history been as welcome as they are now. We are robbing the world of excellent doctors, engineers, computer programmers and scientists right and left. What hard-working oppressed person wouldn't want to come here. It's why we've succeeded as a nation. We take in the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to be free and we make them into energetic, wealthy, independent individuals who are, in fact free! As Bill Murray so eloquently put it in his famous speech in the movie "Stripes", "We're Americans. We've been kicked out of every decent country in the world! We're Mutts! That's what makes us great!"

The truth is that the German Army was an instrument of oppression at the time. The fact that Grandpa Drumpf refused to serve in that organization and left his native land forever is a point in his favor to my way of thinking.

So way to go Grandpa Drumpf! An honorable man escaped from a dishonorable country. He never launched mustard gas at anyone. He never rolled over a peaceful neighbor country in a tank. He never raped a French girl. If you ask me Grandpa Friedrich was fortunate to have got out of that appalling country when he did. Germany was fast becoming an evil place. One might even call it a "$#!+hole" (to coin a phrase that Democrats can't prove the president ever said).

Twenty-One Things Donald Trump Has Done That, As a Conservative, I Like

I remain skeptical of our new president, but he has done some things I like and I have to admire the man for keeping his promises to conservatives. And there is one really big reason to like the man, but here is a list and I'll save the best for last.

  1. Neil Gorsuch Supreme Court nomination and appointment. The man’s a rock-ribbed conservative constitutionalist. He won’t always make the right happy, but he’ll always do the right thing.
  2. Rex Tillerson – New Secretary of State is going about business without any regard for the tender feelings of the international socialist movement. Turns out, we’ve got an American for a Secretary of State. How cool is that?
  3. Ben Carson – I just love that he makes the left so nuts. Here’s a black man who believes that poverty is a state of mind. He’s right. One can escape poverty, but you have to not mind working without a net. Carson speaks the truth! And he’s shining a light on the corruption at HUD and cleaning house.
  4. Mad Dog Mattes – New Secretary of Defense.  ISIS is missing some people and we’ve delayed trying to go out and recruit sexually confused people until 2108. Note he didn’t cancel it. Simply delayed it till cooler heads hopefully prevail some time in the next 200 years.
  5. Betsy Devos – Secretary of Education.  Charter schools, competent teachers, getting the feds out of the education business. Love this lady!
  6. Elaine Chao – Secretary of Transportation. Loved her as Bush’s secretary of labor. I think she’ll bring the same level-headed cut-the-crap approach to the mess over at transportation.
  7. Jeff Sessions – Attorney General. It is such a relief to have a guy as the nation’s law enforcer who makes decisions based on whether a thing is legal and not on whether it makes lesbians, gays, transsexuals, Muslims, Democrats, communists, or Russia unhappy, but rather on whether it violates the law.
  8. Donald Trump talks around the mainstream media straight to the American people.  It’s not quite the way Ronald Reagan did (which also made the media frantic), but it’s fun to watch. He does not let the media define him and he’s willing to call Beezelbub by name. This makes the media insane, the spectacle of which I find quite entertaining to watch!
  9. The five-year ban on White House officials making a living by lobbying. Long, long, long, long overdue measure to stifle corruption.
  10. Popularized the term “fake news” and shined a bright light on the closet “making up the news” industry and named names. A president isn’t supposed to do that, but this one did. I’m sorry but I get a sadistic glee watching them skuttle for cover.
  11. The infamous travel ban!  Trump blocked travel from several countries that support terrorists (Obama wrote up that list) until we could get better security into place to screen out jihadis. Lib judges are still trying to find a way to block that.
  12. Cut money being sent over seas to fund abortion and repealed the Obama order forcing states to fund Planned Parenthood (a misnomer if there ever was one).
  13. Funding cut to sanctuary cities. If your city is defying federal law, it seems logical that they don’t need federal money. I’m not sure I’d have handled it so politely.
  14. Withdrew from the Paris "Climate" Accords – That so-called climate deal basically laid all the cost and work on the United States and transferred a boatload of American dollars into the pockets of the worst polluting nations on the planet, while wrecking the American Economy and doing nada for the climate.
  15. Did NOT bow to any foreign kings. WAAAY more presidential than the previous president who basically bent over and stuck up his bottom for King Abdulla to pat and tell him he was a good boy. It was pathetic. I noted he did not bow to Queen Elizabeth and gave her a book he wrote and returned a bust of Winston Churchill England had presented a previous president with.  Trump is way more class if you can believe. And his wife is very gracious out on the road.
  16. He cut about 7 million bucks worth of unnecessary folk from the White House staff. Melania will be polishing her own toes it appears or paying for that out of her own pocket. It sets a good example.
  17. Withdrew from the Trans Pacific Partnership. The badly lop-sided trade deal essentially transferred sovereignty over American economic interests to foreign nations. Bad for us, great for them. We needed to drop that turkey and Trump did.
  18. Approved the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines. Took a lot of oil out of Warren Buffett’s more expensive choo-choos and tank cars (which, surprise, is why Buffet supported Obama’s ban on the pipeline), and put them in safer, pipelines rather than moving all that flammable material on our nations roads and railroad. Stationary pipes are safer than vehicles moving through our neighborhoods.
  19. Illegal immigration dropped like a stone after Trump was elected. It fell by 72% in the month after he was sworn in. Apparently the border patrol got the okay to step up enforcement. And they haven’t even built a wall yet.
  20. The economy kicked back into gear. I’ve got work again in the past six months. Now if he’d ditch Obamacare, maybe I could afford some health insurance and could get off Medicaid. I’m tired of being forced to be poor to avoid IRS fines.
  21. Last but not least, WE DO NOT HAVE HILLARY CLINTON AS PRESIDENT AND BILL BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE CHASING INTERNS UP AND DOWN THE HALLS. That alone gives me a lot of patience with the Donald.

Donald Trump was not my first choice, nor was he my second or third. I didn’t vote for him, nor did I vote for Clinton. I’m still skeptical as all get-out about his sudden outbreak of conservatism, but he has at least racked up a pretty impressive opening salvo. I think he needs to become more skilled at using Twitter, but hey.  It’s entertaining and makes the media frantic, and, as I previously mentioned, this pleases me.

PS:  Make that 22. He just gave his first paycheck $78,000 to historic battlefield preservation - namely the Antietam battlefield.  Donors matched his donation to the tune of more than $265,000 and more than 7.2 million dollars in grants have been received toward the project according to the Secretary of the Interior.  Not bad Donny boy. Not bad at all.

Hypocrites calling Hypocrites Hypocrites

The Descent of Political Discourse

Good cow! Now the Democrats and the Leftist Media are accusing Donald Trump of a "l
ack of transparency." Really? After the Obama administrations stunningly consistent opaque presidency, perhaps the least transparent in history, the hypocrisy is incredible. If it weren't for the odd open microphone we'd never have known Obama intended to sell us out to the Russians in his second term. If it wasn't for nosy cameras we'd never have seen him bowing to emperors, Saudi kings and assorted other potentates with titles. His signature legislation, Obamacare, was passed famously "before we could know what was in it." Not terribly transparent given that we discovered after it was passed that our health insurance would become more rather than less expensive and that we weren't going to be allowed to keep our doctors and health plans as promised.

I've so far been polite in my responses to most of my liberal friends and not accused them of things not in evidence. And yet, because I like some things Trump has done, I'm accused of Trump hero worship. So I will repeat what I have already said before. Trump is no hero of mine and I never have said he was. On the contrary. I've said I distrust him all along and that I will watch his actions with proper skepticism and set up a howl if he does something I don't like, although it will probably cause Democrats to cheer when he does some such thing.

Democrats are responsible for Trump anyway. They queered the Republican primary by some 12 million crossing over to vote for him and force the nomination, despite strong conservative opposition including mine. They didn't think he could beat Hillary. Unfortunately, they are not as smart as they think they are. Democrats really missed how much Americans disliked Mrs. Clinton.

Trump's their boy at heart. Even his repeal of Obamacare isn't really a repeal at all. Trumpcare is being sold as a better brand of Obamacare. It reminds me of Hitler claiming that Nazism was a better form of Marxism. Trump is obviously no politician. The fact that he hasn't been a politician is one of the few things in his favor as far as I am concerned. He's so inept at politics that the liberal press has their noses more deeply into dark places than they have for the past eight years. They are actually doing their job for a change which is kind of refreshing.

Trump's actions thus far (the official ones, not his tweets and the unimportant things the liberal press keeps harping on) have been heartening, and more than a little entertaining as liberal hair spontaneously combusts every time he sends out a tweet. One liberal friend complained about my use of past historical events, my "written words, sentences and paragraphs" that I used in responding to accusations against the President. What did they want. Should I hum a little tune to soothe their hurt feelings? I could play a little tune on my homemade banjo - a lullaby perhaps? Barring that, I have nothing with which to respond other than words, sentences and paragraphs.

That's the problem with us conservatives, my friends. We read history and we remember some lessons from it. Someone once said, “We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history." Two things I have learned from history that apply to my friendly debates with my buddies on the distaff side of the aisle.
  1. Socialism and centralized government power, whether it's held by kings, emperors, commissars, politburos or presidents. It inevitably never works out well for the proletariat.
  2. Socialists do not learn by experience. They keep trying the same thing over and over again, hoping it will turn out better this time.
Sadly, the left, I have discovered, only believe in free speech for themselves. They prefer not to hear opposing opinions that challenge the unearned sense of moral superiority that they gain from believing the "correct" ideology. They tend to want to silence anyone who presents words, sentences and paragraphs which make sense but disagree with the assumptions of their Marxist progressivism and which do not feed the sense of moral superiority that comes with belonging to the special ideological elite who will run things once the progressive agenda is accomplished.

The trouble with Democrats, said Ronald Reagan once, is that so much of what they know just ain't so. I think it's why they don't want to hear from people like me. Instead when I point out the hypocrisy of the left for criticizing their boy Trump for the same things that their boy Obama did during his reign, they tend to stick their fingers in their ears and go "La, la, la, la." No kidding, I heard a reporter refer to Obama's presidency as his "reign" once. It was more than a little disturbing and rather revealing.

Leftist judges have blocked Trump's immigration and travel restrictions from the very same countries that former president Obama identified as threats. The most recent judge actually said that if Obama had done the same thing as Trump it would have been okay, but because of things Trump said, it's not legal. In other words, judges have now created "thought crimes" which they can lay at the president's door.

Well, it's going along just about like I thought it would. It looks like "1984" may take an additional 40 years, but it appears that Orwell's scary state is still coming with it's government altering of history, language and culture for the purposes of creating the proper sort of proletariat that will subsume it's will to the dictates of the collective and, of course, it's elite intellectual leaders, who will, of course, live in luxurious country dachas with servants and security as a reward for being smarter than the rest of us stupid cattle.

As I've said before, I believe that Jesus is loading up the bus to come and get us. I'm not worried about the Marxists. Their idea of creating a man-made Utopia is doomed to fail in a big messy way. I hope to leave on the bus before I am killed in the collapse. If that happens, I'm not worried. I know where I'm going and I am at peace with that.

I Blame Democrats

It's really funny how desperately liberal Democrats want to pin the blame for Donald Trump on conservatives like me.  Well, I've got news, guys. I didn't vote for him or for Mrs. Clinton. What happened that got Trump elected was that a supposedly brilliant strategy by Democrats went terribly terribly wrong. First, millions of Democrats crossed over to vote for Mr. Trump (I have to call him that now that he's president) in the Republican Primaries because they were certain Hillary could beat him if they just could get stupid Republicans to nominate him. This they did.

Then, once he was safely nominated by the Keystone Cops over at the RNC, the Democrat strategerists nominated the only Democrat on the planet that could have lost to someone as abysmal as Donald Trump. To add insult to injury he was trained by Democrats. Up until this election, Trump was a lifelong Democrat. He donated to both Hillary and Barak Obama's campaigns. He was safely in the Democrat camp saying Democrat things right up until he decided y'all Democrats weren't going to make him president. He was getting old, so he decided to be a Republican for a while given that it was pretty much now or never.

You Democrats made him. Angry wishy-washy unprincipled "moderates" and low-information voters voted for him because they were mad about being talked down to like they were idiots by Democrats. And the hilarious thing is that you guys were surprised you screwed it up so badly. You believed your own press, your own propaganda and thought the Hildebeest was a shoe-in. You counted on the liberal East and West Coasts to carry the day and forgot about the leavening effect of the electoral college.

You people seriously screwed up. I don't know why you're unhappy though. Donald is a trained liberal and could switch hit any day now. Sure he's dismantling Obamacare. But he's still a nationalized healthcare guy like he's always been. He's just going to rename it Trumpcare. As long as his name's on the building, Trump could give a rats tukas what's in it.

Trump isn't my fault, nor is he the fault of genuine conservatives - many of us left the party over Trump in fact. But we can't help giggling over the discomfiture of the left over this one. Trump talked in 6th grade English in his speeches. Your leftist pundits chortled at that and assumed he must be stupid. You comforted yourselves that you were smarter with the superior election strategy. And while you were snickering behind your hands, Trump stole most of the lower half of the IQ bell curve voters from you. And you were shocked because you thought you owned those people. The left was arrogant and it camp back to smack them in the face. You guys on the left don't like it because Trump used the very same tactics you taught him when he was a Democrat to beat you at your own game when he went Republican.  Now we have (God help us) President Trump. Thanks to you.

Tough luck, buttercup; I don't feel sorry for you. Enjoy the next four years. Maybe if you push the whole Elizabeth Warren and the historical inevitability of a woman president thing hard enough, perhaps you can lose again in 2020 with Fauxchahontas and give us all another eight years of Donald Trump instead of just the four. Much as I distrust Trump, I must admit watching the arrogant hard left wing of liberalism squirm is kind of a treat for a crusty old conservative like me.

Almost as entertaining as watching 3 million overweight, half-naked, angry women march in the street to protect their right to murder their unborn children (which Trump will never take from them anyway) and for lots more imaginary rights they think they ought to have.  Even more interesting is watching the spectacle of the Donald actually doing some thing right for a change. And his open baiting of the media and the vast left wing conspiracy is going to rapidly become conservatives' newest favorite Reality TV show.

This might even be fun for a while, even though it also might wind up very badly. Who knows. It's those little mysteries of life that give life zest.

Donny They Hardly Knew Ye

This week the Donald began purging his inner circle of people who either make him unhappy or who might tarnish his image.
Christie's gone and Reince Priebus, whom he castigated as part of the evil GOP leadership, is now his chief of staff and he's taken on the CEO of Breitbart as his chief strategist. In addition he's already begun backing off his campaign promises and telling the media that his tough campaign rhetoric wasn't anything more than a device to get himself elected.

And, I imagine, to the great joy of his more rabid supporters, he told them all to stop picking on the Clintons because they are "good people".  I'm curious to see how the Trump people explain his sudden reversals. He's talking about keeping big chunks of Obamacare and making hints at all sorts of new policy positions that should warm the cockles of liberal hearts everywhere.

Trump Delusion Syndrome: Do You or Your Loved Ones Have It?

Trump Delusion Syndrome is a sad debilitating condition that has swept the United States of America in the past year. Psychiatrists say we haven't seen anything this bad since the great Progressive Flu of the 1920s and 30s. If you have any seven of these ten symptoms, you may have TDS.

  1. You believe that there are only two choices in the presidential race despite the actual number of names printed on your ballot and the presence of a space on your ballot for a write-in vote and you believe that somewhere in scripture there's a text that says, "Thou shalt vote for the lesser of two evils."
  2. You believe that if you don't vote for Trump, that automatically means you voted for Hillary, but if you don't vote for Hillary, it doesn't mean that you automatically voted for Trump.
  3. You believe that, whatever thing you want the next president to do, will be done by Donald Trump no matter what he might have said to the contrary during the campaign or actually did during his life as a casino/strip club owner and indicted racketeer.
  4. You believe that Donald Trump has suddenly become a Christian despite evidence to the contrary and will in any event, surround himself with good people who will help him to do the right things, even though that has never worked at any time in his entire life to make him any less sleazy and despite repeated statements anyway by the Donald that he "doesn't bring God into it."
  5. You believe that, if he wins, God will use Donald Trump the way he did Cyrus, Sampson, Nebuchadnezzar and Elvis to do good in the world and that God will not use Hillary Clinton in a similar manner if she wins.
  6. You believe God is a Republican and that voting for a Democrat is a mortal sin.
  7. You believe that God can forgive and use Trump who claims to be conservative even though he is not and doesn't believe in asking for forgiveness anyway but that God will not forgive and use Hillary who claims to be a moderate despite being a card-carrying Marxist and doesn't believe she needs forgiven for that either.
  8. You have called good friends "cucks", "traitors", "liberals" and all manner of other unseemly names and accused them of wanting Hillary to win just before blocking them on Facebook so you don't have to listen to their arguments against voting for your Cheetoh Messiah anymore.
  9. You plan to blame Donald Trump's election loss (if hell doesn't freeze over and he wins), on the very conservatives who told you they would never vote for him way back when you were busily putting him on the ballot, even though Donald himself said he didn't need them to win and you believed him.
  10. You believe that anyone who votes for a third party or independent candidate and not Donald Trump is going straight to the special hell - the one reserved for communists, axe murderers, and people who drive with their turn signals on.

* Note: TDS is very similar to Liberal Delusion Syndrome save that it tends to strike persons of somewhat higher intelligence and robs them of significant IQ points.

Christian Leaders Sell Their Souls

Hitler was elected Chancellor in 1933
because he promised to make Germany
great again as a Christian nation.
For a Pocketful of Mumbles....

Such are promises as Simon and Garfunkle once sang. It's kind of sad to see. Billy Graham's son is all over Facebook trying to explain why it's okay to vote for Trump. I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. Historically we've seen it all before and the devil is nothing, if not determined to conquer the world his way. It's the whole point of the great controversy between God and Lucifer.  It should come as no surprise that Lucifer sticks to his same strategy built upon the premise that free will is too dangerous and that humans need a ruler (namely him) to keep them in line.

So here we go again, this time in the United States instead of Europe or Asia or somewhere else. This election, we have been presented with two cartoon candidates who are both understudies for the father of lies. To vote for either is to vote for what you hope is the lesser of two evils. I keep asking someone to show me in scripture where it says, "Thou shalt choose the lesser of two evils." No one ever has. They just repeat the lesser of two evils argument or try to make excuses for Trump's abysmal behavior, his somersaulting policies and his serial lying. He and Hillary could be sisters.

Remember this.  In 1933, Adolph Hitler was supported by the churches of Germany because he promised to protect their liberties, because he promised to "Make Germany Great Again" (sound familiar?) and because he was less evil than the Weimar Republic candidate.

In 1932...
  • Hitler did not close churches.
  • Hitler did not execute clergymen.
  • Hitler did not exterminate Jews.
  • Hitler did not exterminate Gypsies.
  • Hitler did not over-run Europe.
  • Hitler did not execute 6 million Germans who didn't agree with him.
  • Hitler did not bomb civilians, steal art treasures for himself or shoot rockets at London......
He did none of those things...............until AFTER he was elected!

Trump is Samson - Trump Delusion Syndrome Deepens.

And Trump has all those great heroic
posters like the other guy too!
First they compared him to King David. Poll numbers continue to fall. Now it's Samson. Samson, they say, didn't drink wine, has a tendency to lie, has a weakness for women and his hair is sort of a big deal. Therefore, he is Samson!

Great sufferin' honk!  Samson?  Really? At least Samson knew he was such a rotten person that in the end he deserved to die with his enemies. Okay, premise accepted. If Trump actually did all those things he says (or actually, his minions say) that he will do and then, if he died suddenly before he could do any more harm, then I might accept the Samson analogy and, who know, it might be for the best. Unfortunately, God hasn't promised He would kill Trump before he does any serious damage.

Remember, not so long someone else promised to do all these good things and make his country great again. He was a vegetarian, lied constantly, had a weird thing going with women and he had a weird comb-over and an odd mustache.  HE did die in the end, but not before he took a couple of hundred million or so people with him - AND we had to use the Russians
to scare him badly enough so that he finally killed himself.*

Here's the "other guy" in his suit of armor!
That sounds more likely what might happen to Trump, if we're lucky. I'm not so sure God will be nearly as patient with us humans this time if we put another wicked megalomaniac up for leader of the world job. We may be on our own this time.

Just sayin'

* Of course, Hitler killed off millions of Jews, Gypsies and anti-socialists, so if you believe that's a good thing, perhaps you'll like what Donald Trump does to the Mexicans, Muslims and Jews. If his alt-right supporters are any indication, we might get a repeat performance. After all, Hitler said he was going to deport the Jews in 1933. The clever idea about poison gas and concentration camps came later when the whole deportation idea didn't work.

Is Trump Like King David?

New Trump Defense Talking Point:

  • King David committed adultery and he was a good leader, therefore Trump can be a good leader so vote for him anyway.
Here we go with another false analogy. The comparison of Donald Trump to King David is entirely specious. David's adultery was a single event. Trump is a serial adulterer, groper and disrespecter of women. When David sinned, God called him on it and punished him severely; probably more than he would have others of his children, BECAUSE David was the king. God always chastises those he chooses as leaders for their sins. Moses lost the promised land because he lost his temper and struck a rock. Adam and Eve got kicked out of the garden. Jonah wound up inside a big fish.

Next look at David's response when called on his sins.  The prophet Nathan showed up at the palace and publicly called the King on his infidelity and murder of his friend. David admitted his sin and submitted himself to God's judgment. That's the difference between King David and King Trump. Trump brags about his sins till he gets caught and then does whatever he thinks will get him out of trouble with the least effort. In the same situation as David, Trump would have had his foundation send over a nice donation to the temple and then covered it up. Trump doesn't ever need forgiveness from God he says. He doesn't think he ever does anything really wrong and if there's a problem, he just "takes care of it" - usually he pays someone off with someone else's money.

I don't think there is any fair comparison between the two.  David was a leader. He publicly owned up to his sins. Trump is the Godfather. He is exempt from sin because he's a celebrity. Big difference. I don't see how anyone can support Trump or his female doppelganger, Hillary Clinton either. Both are living, breathing examples of how rotten the leadership of this country has become. America needs a flush lever installed on it. The whole thing is full of crap!

Better the Devil You Don't Know?

The sum of things hoped for.?   What are the odds?
Really? You have to give it to he who must not be elected. The man knows how to twist a meme to his own benefit.  There used to be a saying that everyone knew that went like this:

"Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know."

The point of this old saw was that with the devil you know, at least you have some experience with defending yourself against him. With the devil you don't know, you have no idea what fresh hell is coming your way. Most old sayings are based on generations of collective wisdom. It takes an adept hand at the old tiller o' propaganda to teach everyone to believe exactly the opposite of what they once believed and to simultaneously not really notice that they've done a 180.

We conservatives who are, we are told, not needed by Trump to win are being told that we must hold our collective noses and vote "Not Hillary". The reasons given range from "Hillary is worse" to "He will build a wall.".  If we counter, "We don't know that Trump really will build a wall or that Hillary is worse," they confidently tell us, "Well, we KNOW how bad Hillary is. With Trump there's a chance he could be better."  This is the mirror opposite of the old "devil you know" adage.

"Better the devil you don't know than the devil you do."

That, of course, flies counter to logic, reason and "The Art of War" by Sun Tsu. It is much harder to defend our nation against an unknown threat than to prepare to fend off a known threat. With Donald Trump, it's even more so. He comes as an angel of light, all set to defend the rights and privileges of every angry American who is willing to simply ignore his myriad flaws and "eccentricities". Trump is the political equivalent of a scratch-off lottery ticket or a quarter in a Vegas slot machine. You're pretty sure you are going to lose, but, hey, you might not. I don't find the difference between a certain loser and an almost certainly worse loser to present significantly better odds. At least not enough for me to spend the one coin I have (my vote) on either. I prefer to spend my vote on someone I can feel good about supporting, even if he doesn't win.

I don't gamble.
That's probably why it's easier for me to resist scratching either box on my ballot. I don't like crap shoots. With crap shoots, most of us never win. The house generally cleans up and walks away with all your money. What's disturbing about this analogy is that Trump has managed to bankrupt several casinos.

But better the devil you don't know? Who knows? You might win?

Yeah, right!

A Tale of Two Snakes

I recently compared the choice between Trump and Clinton as choosing whether to be bitten by a rattler or a cottonmouth. A dear friend chided me for that analogy saying Hillary was a Black Mamba and Trump a corn snake. He, of course, found my unwillingness to choose sides with the corn snake to be unacceptable.

While I respect my friend's right to his opinion, I can find nothing to base the assertion of Trump's relative harmlessness next to Clinton upon. One would have to rely on the naked word of a man who has lied, conned, cheated and bullied his way to the top of his profession for more than four decades. I've watched his career. His "business" career is little different than Hillary's political one
. True, he hasn't killed anyone that we know of yet, but then in 1933, Hitler hadn't killed anyone yet either - the key word being "yet".

My interlocutor argued further that morality was relative because we all have sinned. Unfortunately, if there are levels of danger among snakes, then there must also be levels of morality whereby we can trust another person's trustworthiness. Somehow, the Republican's nominee being a serial adulterer, strip club owner and casino operator and under indictment for racketeering kind of tells me something about his relative morality visa vie his trustworthiness. In his book Trump brags about how many of his friends' wives he's bedded. Conservative Republicans made a lot of noise in the last two presidential elections about "character" being important to the Republican Party and the nation at large. So I watched this guy. He's lied, bullied, manipulated and pandered all the way to the convention.

The man is running four or five propaganda websites that churn out bogus news and disinformation about anyone he sees as standing between him and the White House. He's reversed his positions on almost every issue and done it time and time again. There's not a thing that Trump has said that he hasn't backtracked on or completely reversed himself on if he thought it would win the support of some group or other. Except, oddly enough for conservatives. Them he's ignored and dismissed as irrelevant, preferring to stir up the angry mob. He has no use for thinking conservatives who have left the party in droves upon his nomination. His followers have resorted to threats, bullying and lying against anyone who dares disagree with their own personal Messiah. I've been on the receiving end of plenty of it.

Much as I hate to say it, there is no acceptable choice for president in November. I will vote "none of the above" in the Presidential election. Trump says he doesn't need conservatives like me to get elected. Great. then I don't need to vote for him. I'll vote for every conservative on the ballot whom I think might just have the stones to impeach whichever of these very bad bargains might succeed in getting him or herself elected.

Someone has to stand up to the liberal elites who think it is their natural right to rule over us. They've manipulated the system to give us a choice between Hillary Clinton and a guy who was one of Barak Obama's and Hillary Clinton's biggest supporters. I don't have to choose. It's my constitutional right to find a third option. In 1860, an Illinois lawyer named Lincoln was the third party candidate. It could happen. Who knows?

I was also accused of being on my "high horse" as though that were somehow a bad thing. Hey, I'm from Texas. We prefer our horses kind of high. And we are not afraid to fight battles we know we are going to lose (see the Alamo). Sometimes that's necessary. Sometimes it's not about winning, but about doing the right thing. We are seeing the signs Jesus told would come just before the end. They are appearing on the nightly news almost every day.

In Jesus' day there were two parties vying for power in Judea - the Sadducees and Pharisees. Jesus offended them both. He called them "whited sepulchres". He did not mince words. He even broke up their party in the temple, turning over tables and waving a whip around. They killed Him because He wouldn't cast his support for one or the other group. Had he gone Pharisee, they would have protected him. The Sadducees/Scribes would have done the same. But because he threatened their two party system, they banded together and took Him out.

If Jesus could just say no, I do believe I can. Revelation and Daniel said this stuff would happen. The prophets told us to stand in the breach. Doing that is dangerous. Look at the fate of the disciples. All but one were killed by governments and John was banished, imprisoned and boiled in oil before he died a natural death. The prophets and Jesus Himself never said we wouldn't be persecuted for standing for the truth. Quite the contrary.

The lesser of two evils is still evil. I can't vote for evil. I can vote for someone who is at least trying to do right; someone who asks God for forgiveness if he or she makes a mistake. Trump says he doesn't need to ask for forgiveness. Hillary pretends she doesn't ever do anything wrong. To choose between them is a choice I cannot make in good conscience.

This is not a slander against anyone who feels that God is telling them to vote one way or another. You may be right and I may be wrong, but I don't think so. It's not about winning or losing anyway. It's about how I believe and believing what I do, I think I have a duty to warn my fellow Americans against the dangers represented by both Clinton and Trump - it's a voice crying in the wilderness kind of thing. I have no illusions that I am Elijah or John the Baptist and my choice is not very comfortable for me as choices go. If I wanted to feel warm and fuzzy and supported, I would move over with the angry herd for whom The Donald speaks. But, sadly, there is not a lot of time left for doing the right thing anymore. Time to stand. I can do nothing else.

Do You Hate Trump Enough to Let Hillary Win?

Someone asked this question today. I’m trying to take a day away from talking about “he who must not be elected”, but I cannot let this one pass because it targets my basic moral values and the values of all of us who will vote “none of the above” in November. It has nothing to do with “hate” toward the RNC’s orange-headed champion. It has to do with principle, something fewer and fewer people are even capable of understanding in this secular, got-to-have-it-all society we are busily creating.

A moral decision not to support, endorse or vote for immoral leaders is not about winning or revenge or even anger that one did not get one’s way. It’s about the whole assumption built into the original question - that one should vote for one candidate because the other one is worse. I have studied Scripture diligently for some 45 years now and nowhere in my Bible does it say, "Thou shalt choose the lesser of two evils." That is, in effect, choosing between wrong and wrong based on degree of wrongness. It’s a false dichotomy. It’s like saying, “Which would you choose - a rattlesnake bite or a water moccasin bite?” Anyone with any brains would choose neither given the choice. And as Americans, our founding fathers did give us a choice.

We are not forced to choose either/or. The founders knew what rigged systems were like. They had just risked their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor breaking free from such a rigged system. You dismiss refusing to vote for the Republican nominee as "hating" Trump because you assume we are mad because our guy didn’t win and we’re have a temper fit. That's not it at all. That's how Trump thinks. Winning to Trump supporters is everything - at least that has been the theme of their attacks on people like me. I'm told we have to win so we have to vote for Trump. Like the toadies of a thousand playground bullies, they go along to get along and to avoid being ostracized from the group.

But it is not true. We’re not having a tantrum. We’re making a principled and painful decision. Doing the right thing is everything to some people. I'm a Christian and I was brought up in Texas. We understand that sometimes you stand and fight even when you know you’re going to lose because it’s the right thing to do. We remember the Alamo as our finest hour.

As one Trumpette reminded me, the Texans lost at the Alamo. The comment was revealing, though. Winning to this guy was everything. That's the Trump theme song. He promises we will win so much we'll get sick of winning. Trump appeals to a culture raised on the idea that being a loser is the worst thing in the world. But there are things far worse than defeat lurking out there.

Davy Crockett goes down swingin'.
The young man who said we lost at the Alamo was wrong. We Texans didn't lose that famous battle. The men at the Alamo saved the Republic of Texas at that battle. Our young men gave their lives to buy time so that Sam Houston's army could bring their forces together to destroy the Mexican Army at San Jacinto. The "loss" at the Alamo was the key to victory at San Jacinto. We also remember that the men at Goliad surrendered to the inevitable and Santa Anna slaughtered them anyway. I expect that will happen to Trump's folks too once he has the reins of power.

Refusing to vote for evil people may not win us the election, but it might just win us something that is well worth having - our integrity and self-respect.

If America sells its soul for a pocket full of mumbles, at least some of us will have stood firm and though we may fall, Jesus is coming soon and His approval is all we seek and heaven is the only thing worth winning.
I know Trump’s minions will never understand that, but they don’t have to. We answer to only one Master and it’s not Donald J. Trump.
