The Enemy of my Enemy Ain't Necessarily My Friend

Stalin was Hitler's friend before he was his enemy.
Perhaps FDR should have remembered that.
Someone told me today that the reason I should support Donald Trump is because leftist boogey man, George Soros, was "out to get Trump."  That ought to tell you something, he crowed, as if that proved that Trump was okey-dokey for all conservatives to support.

It does tell me something and again, I didn't sleep through history class so perhaps some of you missed it. The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend. Because Trump is the enemy of George Soros, doesn't mean Trump is my friend. First, George Soros, like Hillary Clinton, has long been friends with the Donald. Soros' company bailed Trump out when he ran into financial trouble building Trump Tower in Chicago. So whatever they're doing, it isn't because Trump and Soros are great enemies. Trump doesn't have enemies. He has current business partners. The public huffing and puffing Donald does is always about free publicity and furthering Trump's goals.

"It's just business," should be tatooed on Trump's butt.

FDR thought he could "handle" Uncle Joe
His arrogance cost us an expensive and
dangerous 40 year long cold war.
We did the whole enemy of my enemy is my friend thing back in World War II. The Russians were friends at first with Hitler, until Hitler double-crossed them and invaded Russia. Then all of a sudden the Russians were our great friends and we sent them all sorts of weapons. They responded by helping us defeat Hitler and then helping themselves to Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Georgia and the rest of Eastern Europe and engaging us in a long and debilitating Cold War. We also "friended" Mao Tse Tung and he did the same thing once the Japanese were defeated.

A snake is a snake is a snake. You may share a common enemy for a time, but in the end, the snake is still not your friend and may, in fact, be deadlier than your previous enemy.

So no. Attacks on Trump by Soros' minions doesn't make Trump my friend. In fact, it may be designed to make me ignore Trump's many frightening character traits, past behaviors and cringe-inducing political positions in order to:

  • (A) Put a closet socialist - Trump - in the White House or
  • (B) Cost the Republicans the election by getting them to bunch up behind and nominate an anti-conservative even worse than McCain or Romney ever were and put a closet socialist - Hillary Clinton - in the White House or
  • (C)  Cost the Republicans the election by getting them to bunch up behind and nominate an  anti-conservative even worse than McCain or Romney ever were and put an open socialist - Bernie Sanders - in the White House because Clinton is going to be indicted
Either way it turns out badly for conservative Red State Americans. Deliberate blindness is pretty much incurable, so I know I'm singing to the choir here. I do so in hopes that someone who is leaning toward supporting Donald Trump won't make the truly awful choice of supporting him or (worse) doing as Doctor Carson has done, endorsing him.

Trumpism is a kind of madness - a suspension of disbelief of the sort that is required to enjoy a sci-fi or fantasy movie. You know they are lying to you and none of it is real, but you don't care because the story is so entertaining. It is wondrous the lengths to which Trump supporters will go to continue their own suspension of disbelief. First, they defend and exalt this massive egomaniac, blindly supporting his rise to power and then, they ignore the fact that he is not the sort of person they would choose as a friend or even consider a Christian if he were sitting in the next pew at church. He owns strip clubs for heaven's sake and swindles people on land deals. How can we choose someone like that as a church deacon, much less president of the United States. Have we no standards?

Given that we live in the generation raised in front of the tube, it's little wonder so many of us prefer not to actually have to think about things - even things that count. Better to just sweep along with the herd and watch the entertaining story flash by on the screen. We all like thrillers, but it doesn't seem to occur to anyone that what's going on up there on the screen is real and that we are, in fact, busily doing out best to put a sociopath into the White House.

As I've said before, I'm collecting materials for my end-times bunker.

Fox News and the Liberal Agenda

Fox News' Megyn Kelly - The Left's Enemy #1
Fox News is pretty much the only broadcast media outlet that currently gives fair play to conservatives. It's only equal time to be sure, but that's far more than anyone else does and it makes progressive socialists apoplectic. To them equal time is favoritism.  Fox News actually works out to be more fair and balanced than virtually anyone else. On Fox you can actually hear both sides of an argument. They don't overly favor anybody and they hire reporters that will take a shot at a pompous pundit or a windbag politician if there's one to be taken. That's what journalists should do.

It's what Megyn Kelly did to Trump and that pompous, self-important windbag deserved everything he got in my opinion. But honest questions come at a cost, especially when you are up against a well-funded liberal propaganda machine.

The recent so-called "conservative" backlash against Fox is being orchestrated by left wing operatives following Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals to the letter.

  1. Pick the target - Fox News the only news media outlet that is not openly anti-conservative.
  2. Freeze it - Sew doubt and mistrust among supporters
  3. Personalize it - Pick on Megyn Kelly
  4. Polarize it - Get lots of divisive hate speech going among your enemies (conservatives)

By "fixing, freezing, personalizing and polarizing, the Media Matters, Young Turks and other Soros-funded operatives are attempting to turn conservatives against Fox News (the only real support they have from major news media). In doings so, they hope Fox News will be fickle and become more sympathetic with liberals and perhaps even come over to their side. And they've salted conservative dialogue with clever sniping and false accusations in order to undercut Fox News' influence as much as possible and reduce their viewership.

Fox right now beats out every other mainstream media including the vaunted CNN and NBC. George Soros and his operatives hate that. They want nothing less than to cut Fox down to size and reduce it's influence on mainstream Americans (who prefer Fox by huge numbers). The pitiful thing is that low-information conservatives are falling for it.

Please don't!

I'm just sayin'.

One More Time: The Koch Brothers Aren't Paying Off Tea Party People.

"Dangerous" Tea Partiers - tough looking group, huh?
I'm sick to death of progressive socialists and liberals claiming the Tea Party is being run by the Koch Brothers and Rupert Murdoch.  That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Maybe they support some conservative think tanks, some TV programs or whatever, but front line Tea Party people aren't getting a dime to support conservative cause.  We truly believe this stuff.  That completely befuddles liberals.

Liberals really do think we're all being paid off by evil corporations.  So where do I go to get my check? I don't know one single person who's ever been paid by a corporation to support the Tea Party.

First of all there is no organized "Party". We're a loosely disorganized gang of cranky old conservatives who have a few get togethers once in a while to gripe about the liberal agenda. We all drive ourselves to those meetings on our own dime. We don't get bussed to Washington by anybody, much less the evil Koch brothers. It's such an unbelievable load of BS.

The last time I was in Washington, however, I witnessed about 5000 people marching on the capitol with nice printed signs and everything. They were served meals by union sponsors. They rode free buses into Washington for the Rally. I went back later that day and the National Mall was a mess where they'd been.  Want to guess where their funding came from?

I also saw a "Tea Party" rally in Austin. Everyone car-pooled or drove themselves. We brought our own lunch, made our own signs and I sure as hell never saw anybody issuing paychecks to any of us. and we cleaned up after ourselves.  The Union guys left the place a wreck after the Washington rally.  The bankrollers of the event paid to have it cleaned up.

But that's how progressives do it, so they assume, since they're being bankrolled by billionaires, we conservatives all must be too. I could care less what the Koch brothers do. You can check my weblog. I've been howling about this stuff for years. I have hundreds of blog posts supporting conservative causes. Nobody EVER paid me to write them. People read my stuff because they are interested in the subject matter. I make a few bucks on Google advertising, but writing this stuff is nowhere near worth the time and effort I put into it. That's what liberals don't get about the Tea Party. We're not shills from some corporate hedge fund crook who broke the Bank of England and bankrupted small Eastern European countries after a career in WWII of collaborating with the Nazis. We're just regularly raggedy people who want to be left alone to do our business and take care of our families without interference from the government.

This Koch brothers nonsense is nothing but a smoke screeen to cover how deeply beholden the leftist organizations in this country are to funding from the likes of George Soros and his ilk. The corporate cronies of the president get all kinds of favors from him, from massive government loans to bailouts to businesses that claim to be too big to fail.  Those evil corporations pull his strings far more thoroughly than any right wing "agitator" does with conservatives.  Some of the worst of them sit on his cabinet or act as his "advisors".

Conservatives are not, as a rule, very obedient people. Not good citizen candidates for the socialist utopia the progressives are planning.  We've been pitching the damned tea in the bay for more than 200 years now -- whenever the government gets too big for its britches. And we will not go quietly into any socialist utopia you care to design. We've seen the gulags and the gas ovens at the end of that road thank you very much.
