Is the "Trump is Hitler" Meme Fair?

Trump lovers keep busting my chops for comparing the one and only true Messiah, Donald Trump, to Adolph Hitler. They say this is just another meme by a Trump hater.  First off I find the use of the liberal meme "hater" more than a little interesting.  The second interesting thing is that the Donald and his minions use memes more effectively than probably any political candidate since you-know-who. Thirdly, it's not a meme. It's an observation based on some scary parallels between Trump in 2016 and Hitler in 1933. Someone challenged me to say why I believe Trump is like Hitler. Okay, here goes: 

• Hitler motto: "Make Germany Great Again"
• Trump motto: "Make America Great Again."

• Hitler's problem race: The Jews
• Trump's problem race: The Muslims and he's previously said anti-Israel things

• Hitler's solution 1: Mass deportations - Solution 2 death camps
• Trump's solution 1: Mass deportations - Solution 2 kill the families of terrorists

• Hitler's supporters: Angry Germans
• Trump's supporters: Angry Americans

• Hitler's context: 10 years of economic woes under the Weimar Republic and it's vascillating legislature
• Trump's context: 9 years of economic failure under Democrat policies and a vascillating Republican Congress

• Hitler - Told the people what they wanted to hear and then did whatever he wanted (he was beholden to none but himself).
• Trump - Tells the people what they want to hear and promises to be "beholden to none"

• Hitler: Changed his policies and beliefs at will
• Trump: Reserves the right to change his policies and beliefs at will

• Hitler - Encouraged his Brownshirts to commit violence against his opponents.
• Trump - Encourages his followers to rough up protesters and promises to defend them in court.

• Hitler - Opposed communism while espousing socialist notions (claimed he had a better brand of Marxism
• Trump - Opposes the Democratic socialism of Sanders and Clinton (claims his brand of socialist style government programs will work better)

• Hitler - Ran against socialist/communists
• Trump - Running against socialism/communism

• Hitler - Ordered his military to commit war crimes
• Trump - Says the military WILL obey his orders to commit war crimes

• Hitler - Promised to protect the Christian Religion, then turned on them if they didn't fall in line later.
• Trump - Promises to protect Christianity - we'll see how that works out if Christians cross him

• Hitler - Claimed he was a Christian despite evidence to the contrary
• Trump - Claims to be a Christian despite serial adulteries, owning a strip club, casinos and conning old people on shady Mexican land deals

• Hitler - Charismatic demagogue
• Trump - Charismatic demagogue

• HItler - Whipped crowds into a frenzy
• Trump - Whips crowds into a frenzy

• Hitler - Manipulated the press to support his goals, punished newspapers and radio stations that did not fall in line with the party line
• Trump - Manipulates the press for billions in free air time, punishes Fox News for asking him difficult questions

• Hitler - Turned on friends who got too much power
• Trump - Turns on business partners who threaten to become too powerful

• Hitler - Punished those who opposed him
• Trump - Will sue his enemies at the drop of a hat - financially buries them if possible

• Hitler - Made deals to consolidate his power. Made deals with England to stave off war and then ignored them to get what he wanted. Had a history of screwing people he made deals with.
• Trump - Says he will make deals with our enemies - "They'll totally take my calls." Has a history of screwing business partners who had deals with him.

• Hitler - Lots of incendiary rhetoric against "enemies" of Germany
• Trump - Lots of incendiary rhetoric against "enemies" of America

• Hitler - Said one thing; did another if it's expedient.
• Trump - Says one thing; reserves the right to do another if it's expedient.

• Hitler - Lies about his opponents to achieve political gains. Accepted the support of those who submitted.
• Trump - Lies about his opponents and calls it "just politics" and "necessary" (Carson, Christie, Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, Bush, et al). Welcomes them in if they fall in line.

I just see too many parallels between the two and practically no evidence that Donald Trump will be any different than the Fuehrer. I don't believe he'll do what he said he would do if it turns out not to be to his own benefit and plenty of evidence that he'll do the opposite of what he says because what he considers anything he said before was "...just part of the deal-making process."

Power attracts the corruptible like a bloody great magnet and really, when you think about it, do you know of anyone as corrupt as Donald Trump who has been or would be made a better man by giving him the most powerful position in the world? I certainly can't call anyone to mind.

It's the 1933 playbook all over and is it just me or do Trump's supporters spend a lot of time covering up his sins and explaining how bad things about Trump "don't really matter".  It reminds me of the way people explained away the sins of the old Kings and Queens and Emperors as thought they get to live by a different standard than the rest of us.  Donald is pro-abortion, but now he's sort of not and the very people who used to howl about the slightest hint that someone was pro-abortion don't have a problem with the Donald's history on the subject. He says he's a Christian who doesn't need forgiveness; he just makes deals with God to fix it. What Christian would accept that behavior standard in a deacon, much less the pastor? Trump calls on God's name when he's looking to capture the evangelical vote, but I'd be willing to bet that Bible he held up during one memorable speech had "Property of The Gideons" printed on the inside cover.

Oh and let's not forget that his wife will be the first First Lady in history to have nude posters of herself available on the Internet.

Oh, Donald Trump is a winner alright. And he promises us we're going to get downright sick of winning when he's president. But do we really want to win on his terms and lose our souls (not to mention our liberties)in the process? I know that would certainly make me sick.

I know people are getting sick of it and that it's not very effective to compare Donald to Hitler because it's been done to death. Ironically, Hitler himself benefited from too much criticism on the part of his opponents. Eventually, people tuned it all out. As the late Harry Nillson said once, "You see what you wanna see and you hear what you wanna hear. Ya dig?"

We are so doomed.

Streamlining the Military - Different Sauces for Goose and Gander

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's new defense budget proposes to reduce the size of our military to its lowest level since 1939. He makes noises about making the military more stream-lined, flexible and lethal, but one sees little of that in what we've seen so far. What we've seen so far in history is a pattern of Democrat presidents Carter, Clinton and Obama demoralizing and defunding the military every time they have the power to do so. After Carter's disaster in the desert during the Iran Hostage Crisis Clinton's record with the Black Hawk Down incident and the bombing of an aspirin factory, one waits with baited breath to see the results of Obama's gutting of the US military.

I notice the media have stopped counting the number of deaths in Afghanistan since this president came into office. I remember during the Bush years we used to get an ABC special every time we got another death toll magic number.

The idea of stream-lining the military is not new. I remember President Bush proposed stream-lining the military at the very beginning of his administration. He proposed a massive re-evaluation of all systems and equipment and a careful, planned sharpening of the sword so to speak. He believed we should skip a generation of weapons and shifting funds from weapons development programs that would be practically obsolete when completed and used the funds to speed up technology, which would give us speed, flexibility, potency and survivability on the battlefields of the future. 

The Democrats howled like they’d been personally sandpapered and dipped in alcohol. The perfume princes (the guys already planning their post-service consulting careers) in the Pentagon hated it, but it would have given us a lean, affordable and extremely scary military a decade later. Of course, 9/11 intervened and prosecuting a war and squeezing the money for it out of the Democrats prevented his going ahead with his plans for upgrading the post-Clinton military, but it would have worked I think.

But the Democrats hate the military, except when they can use it to throw an international temper tantrum, raise taxes and get soldiers killed to no purpose (see Black Hawk Down and Vietnam). Unless we change the complexion of the Congress and presidency, we’re going to be in the same place the world was in 1939. President Obama with his confiding to Vladimir Putin that he'd be able to be more "flexible" after his reelection, his hand fluttering and confusing and ineffective responses in Syria, Libya and the Middle-East in general have only convinced the dictators of the world that they can act with impunity. That America is a paper tiger.

Unfortunately for our future as a planet which does not glow in the dark, America possesses terrible and destructive weapons. Ask yourself, if someone mistook you for an intruder and were pointing a gun at you, which would you rather have on the other end of the gun: a trained soldier or police officer or a frightened girl who barely managed to release the safety on her 357 Magnum. Criminals know for certain who is more likely to shoot them accidentally and probably hit them where it's painful if at all. They also know who to speak calmly to and not make any threatening moves at because they will likely wind up dead if they do.

We have a frightened bunch of girls in the White House right now with the nuclear trigger in their handbags. At least that's the impression virtually everyone in the world has after Obama's World Apology Tour and his confusing tough talk and no follow-through foreign policy.

The current Russian incursion into Crimea and the limp-wristed response by this administration reminds me eerily of the Nazi incursion into the Sudetenland and Neville Chamberlain's sellout of the Sudetenlanders to Hitler for an illusory promise of “peace in our time”. Politicians who truly believe they are smarter than everyone else and can, through manipulation and charm, twist others to their will are every bit as dangerous and deluded as the dictators, tyrants and madmen who find them weak and stupid.

Voyage of the Damned II...Obama Denies Asylum to German Home-School Family

It's 2013 and people are STILL fleeing Nazi persecution and STILL being turned away by Democrat presidents.

FDR in 1939 turned away 939 Jewish refugees on the SS St. Louis. Nearly a third of those eventually were captured by the Nazis and died in Auschwitz and its sister death camps.

Barak Obama in 2013 is trying to deport a German family fleeing Germany to keep their children from being taken away under a 1938 Nazi era law prohibiting home-schooling.

If you don't know about the St. Louis, here's what happened.  In 1939 Hitler decided in a bold public relations stunt to prove that nobody else wanted the Jews either.  He loaded nearly a thousand Jews onto a ship with tourist visas and sent them sailing about the Atlantic looking for refuge status. Cuba, their original destination took a few and sent them away.  FDR rejected them under threat from Southern Democrats to withdraw their support from him in the 1940 election.  Canada turned them away as did Britain.  They finally landed in places like France, Belgium and Holland where fully a third of them were captured and murdered in the Nazi death camps.

Fast forward to 2013.  The Romeike Case is about the Romeikes, a German family who fled Germany because of persecution by the government over home-schooling their children.  Home-schooling is illegal in Germany under a 1938 law that prohibits the practice.  Yes, you read that right. The law dates back to Hitler's Germany and was enacted to insure that the government had full control over what children were taught.  The Hitler Youth sprung up as the fruits of this law. 

The Obama administration fails to see any irony in backing the German law (written by the way by a government that notoriously compared Jews and blacks to monkeys, murdered one group and banned the music of the other as being corruptive of German youth.

What is particularly revelatory is the way the Democrat government that is so concerned with being fair and merciful to illegal immigrants who sneaked across the border illegally, can turn around and be completely unsympathetic with a family who came here legally, were originally granted asylum and who are supporting themselves and paying taxes. The Obama Administration has all the latitude it needs to grant the Romeikes asylum.  Instead they are burning up tax dollars to prosecute this family and to drive them back into the arms of a German government determined to either force them to send their kids to public school or to take their children from them.  They let known terrorists like the Boston Marathon bombers not only enter the country, but also to sign up for nearly a hundred thousand dollars in cumulative welfare and they want to turn out a family that needs no welfare, costs the school system nothing and actually pay their taxes. It's mind boggling.

In revoking their asylum, the administration makes two arguments:

1. They argue that because the Romeike's have the choice to simple obey the German law and send their kids to public school.  Therefore, according to the Obama administration, they are not being persecuted. One supposes they make that determination under the "your children don't belong to you"/"It takes a village" principal.
2. They also argue that because the Romeike's are not a member of any recognized persecuted group (Muslims, blacks or..........well, Muslims) that they have no right to asylum.

In other words they aren't the right race or religion to receive protection. The argument seems to be that if you're white and Christian, you don't need any protection from persecution - ever!

This would be shocking except that this ruling is from an administration that has always lumped people into groups by race, creed, color and voting blocks.

Katyn II: The Polish People Fear a Repeat of 1940

The people of Poland are in shock and are worried about the Russians again. Saturday's plane crash that killed, not only the president of Poland and his wife, but practically the entire leadership of Poland's military and government, is already being called Katyn II. It is a measure of just how nervous their neighbors make them. If you don't know what Katyn I was, prepare yourself for a string of "interesting" historical coincidences. Given Polish history, the Poles can be forgiven if they find what happened this weekend in the forest near Smolensk eerily parallel to what happened 70 years ago in the forests near Katyn.

It was 1940, Europe was in turmoil and Poland was, unbeknown to most of its citizens, the subject of a secret agreement between Germany and Russia, dividing the country between them. On March 5 1940, Joseph Stalin signed a secret order as brutal as any Hitler ever issued, that led to the capture and mass murder of 22,000 Polish doctors, lawyers and military officers in the forest near Katyn. The crime was so brutal that the German (Goebbels, of all people) was able to use it as propaganda against the Russians. The assassinations decapitated the Polish Army and the leadership of its public service sector as the Germans and Russians prepared to overrun the Polish nation.

The plane crash that took the life of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife and 95 key Polish government and military leaders is already being publicly called Katyn II by many Poles and one can hardly blame them. The plane was carrying the president and his entourage to a Katyn memorial service on the 70th anniversary of the tragedy.

President Kaczynski and his twin brother, founding members with Lech Walesa of the Polish Solidarity movement have been less than diplomatic with either the Russians or the European Union of late. They've been less than diplomatic with the European Union about its bullying tactics. Suddenly, the troublesome leader is eliminated in a crash that ironically took place at Smolensk, not far from the Katyn Forest. It effectively decapitates the government and brings the opposition party almost instantly to power, at the same time leaving all three Polish military branches without their top leaders, the banking system and much of the Polish civil service. Predictably, the Russians are blaming the crash on the Poles. The newspapers in the states are dismissing Poles who compare the disaster to Katyn "extremists".

It's also a bit unnerving that the day after the crash, news about it is already buried in the back pages of the newspaper behind glowing headlines about how Neville......., I mean Barak Obama is bringing us peace in our time by signing a nuclear nonproliferation agreement with the Russians, the upshot of which is that the U.S. is laying down its nukes with few real guarantees that anyone else will lay down theirs. With the stroke of a pen, the U.S., for all practical purposes ceases to be a superpower. Of course, considering that we've got an administration that seems intent on turning us into Albania, it's not surprising.

By the way, be careful looking up the Katyn massacre. In the first two pages of a Google search on the subject last night, more than half of the sites that showed up were fiercely virulent malware sites. I had to flip my computer off at the wall to escape having malware forcibly downloaded to my computer. Odd that the obscure term "Katyn" would suddenly be the keyword for so many malware sites. It's as though someone didn't want people reading that particular bit of history.

I have a friend in Poland. He says everyone is in shock. He mentioned Katyn right away. I think the Poles would do well to reexamine that bit of their history. If the U.S. doesn't stand with Poland on this one, then once again, Poland is all alone. Pray for Poland. They will very likely need it if history is indeed being replayed.
